What this notice means

A dropshipping policy notice means Amazon believes your orders are being fulfilled in a way its dropshipping policy does not allow.

Depending on how serious or repeated the issue is, Amazon may warn you, restrict listings, or deactivate the account.

Amazon allows dropshipping only when you are the seller of record for your products, you identify yourself as the seller on packing slips, invoices, external packaging and other information included with the order, and you remove any packing slips, invoices or other information that identify another seller or retailer before the order ships.

You must also be responsible for accepting and processing returns.

The most common problem is buying a product from another online retailer and having that retailer ship it directly to your Amazon customer.

The buyer then receives a package with another company’s branding or paperwork, which Amazon’s policy does not allow.

Buyers who receive a package from a retailer they did not order from often complain or leave negative feedback.

Those complaints are frequently what brings the issue to Amazon’s attention in the first place.

What Amazon needs to see

1

Understand the real cause

Amazon needs to see that you understand the real cause: which part of the dropshipping policy your fulfillment broke, on which orders, and why.

2

Find the root cause

It then needs the root cause: how your fulfillment was set up. For example, ordering from another retailer and shipping direct to buyers, or a supplier that includes its own invoices or branding in the box.

3

Fixes already done

Corrective actions already completed come next. These typically include ending orders through other retailers, moving to a supplier who ships unbranded with your paperwork, or switching to Fulfillment by Amazon or your own fulfillment.

4

Prevention for the future

Finally, Amazon wants preventive measures: a written agreement with suppliers on packaging and paperwork, test orders to check what buyers receive, and a clear returns process handled by you.

Why first appeals get rejected

  • Continuing to fulfill orders through another retailer while appealing.
  • No evidence that suppliers now ship with your packing slips and no other branding.
  • Not explaining how returns are handled under your name.
  • Claiming the supplier is at fault without showing what has changed.
  • A generic appeal that does not describe your actual fulfillment flow.

Dropshipping appeals succeed when Amazon can clearly see the new fulfillment process. A simple diagram or step-by-step description of how an order now reaches the buyer can make the appeal far easier to accept.

  2. Map your fulfillment. We look at how an order moves from supplier to buyer and where it breaks Amazon’s policy.
  3. Fix the setup. We help you arrange compliant suppliers, packing slips and returns, and gather proof of each change.
  4. Appeal and follow-up. We write the Plan of Action, submit it through the correct channel and follow up until Amazon reviews it.

Frequently asked questions

Is dropshipping allowed on Amazon?

Yes, under Amazon’s dropshipping policy. You must be the seller of record, identify yourself on packing slips and invoices, remove any other seller’s paperwork and handle returns yourself.

Can I buy from another online retailer and ship directly to my buyer?

No. Buying from another retailer and having them ship directly to your Amazon customer is not allowed under Amazon’s policy.

My supplier puts their own invoice in the box. Is that a problem?

Yes. Paperwork or branding that identifies another seller or retailer must be removed before the order ships. Your supplier needs to ship with your paperwork only.

Should I switch to FBA?

It can be one way to fix the problem, but it is not the only one. A compliant supplier who ships unbranded with your paperwork can also meet the policy.

Can I keep selling while I appeal?

That depends on your account status. If you can still sell, make sure every new order is fulfilled under the corrected setup, because further violations weaken the appeal.
