Your valid tracking rate (VTR) is the share of your seller-fulfilled packages that have a valid tracking number. Amazon’s target is above 95%. Falling below it can restrict your selling in a category, and repeated problems can put the whole account at risk.
What a valid tracking rate problem means
VTR applies only to orders you ship yourself. FBA orders do not count. Amazon measures it over a 30-day period, usually by product category, and checks that each tracking number is real and belongs to a carrier Amazon recognizes.
When VTR drops below the target, Amazon can stop you from shipping seller-fulfilled orders in that category. If the problem continues, or comes with other performance issues, it can lead to account deactivation. You can see your current rate in Account Health.
Common causes of a low VTR
- The carrier name entered does not match Amazon’s carrier list.
- Tracking numbers uploaded with typos or after the ship-by date.
- Shipping methods with no tracking at all.
- Order software or integrations sending wrong or empty tracking data.
What Amazon needs to see in your appeal
The affected orders
The orders without valid tracking, taken from your Seller Central reports, not an estimate.
The real cause
Why each group of orders failed: carrier mapping, software errors, late uploads or untracked shipping.
Fixes already done
Correct carrier settings, repaired integrations or a switch to tracked shipping, completed before you appeal.
Prevention
A daily check of unconfirmed shipments and a named person responsible for tracking uploads.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if Amazon rejects the appeal?
We keep working on your case at no extra cost. We revise the Plan of Action, resubmit and escalate where possible, until your account is reinstated or Amazon gives a final decision with no further appeal route. This covers the same case only; a new notice or a new violation is a new case. It depends on you replying and sending documents on time, as set out in “What we need from you”. You pay the balance only after reinstatement. No one can guarantee Amazon’s decision.
Do FBA orders count toward valid tracking rate?
No. VTR covers only orders you ship yourself.
What is a good valid tracking rate?
Amazon’s target is above 95%. Sellers who use tracked shipping and confirm orders correctly usually stay well above it.
Will buying shipping through Amazon help?
Labels bought through Amazon’s own shipping tools upload tracking automatically, which removes most manual errors. It is a common preventive step in appeals.
